What Is a Resin Anchor Capsule and How Does It Work?

When you walk into a coal mine roadway or a tunnel under construction, the rock above your head is held in place by a system most people never see: the rock bolt. And the unsung hero that makes that bolt bite into stone is a small, deceptively simple component — the resin anchor capsule.

If you source anchoring materials, specify support systems, or simply want to understand why modern mines rarely rely on cement alone, this guide explains what a resin anchor capsule is, how it works step by step, and why manufacturers like Huaibei Jinjiu have shipped over 12 million pieces a year to 30+ countries.

What Exactly Is a Resin Anchor Capsule?

A resin anchor capsule is a two-part, factory-sealed cartridge used to bond a steel bolt (or FRP rod) to the surrounding rock. Inside a glass-fiber or paper tube, two compartments are kept separate until installation:

Because the chemistry is pre-measured and sealed, every capsule delivers a consistent mix ratio — no on-site measuring, no wasted batches.

How Does It Work? (Step by Step)

  1. Drill a hole to the required diameter (Φ23–Φ40 mm) and depth.
  2. Insert the capsule followed by the bolt/rod.
  3. Rotate the bolt. The spinning breaks the capsule, mixing resin with hardener.
  4. Gel — depending on formulation, gel time ranges from 8 s (ultra-fast) to 600 s (slow), letting you match the pace of your rig.
  5. Cure & bond — the resin sets, locking the bolt to the rock with a pull-out force of ≥100 kN and anchoring force ≥126 kN.

The result is a rigid, full-length bond that transfers load from the rock surface into competent strata — far faster than waiting for cement grout to set.

Where Are Resin Anchor Capsules Used?

Why Huaibei Jinjiu Resin Capsules?

Jinjiu has manufactured anchoring agents since 2004, running three automated lines inside a 16,000 m² facility certified to ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 and MA safety standards. Beyond volume (12M pcs/yr), the practical edge for buyers is customization: gel time, diameter, and length are formulated to your rock conditions and project spec — not pulled off a shelf.
